Rock Challenge Youth Division is aimed at young people outside of mainstream education or who attend specialist youth projects. Rock Challenge offers young people the opportunity to find something they can succeed in by working with industry professionals and the Rock Challenge team, gaining valuable life skills as well as empowering young people, inspiring them to have a positive future and make healthy lifestyle choices.
By working alongside professionals, we aim to help and support young people to create opportunities to change their lives. For some, it will be the first time they have been given the opportunity and support to turn their ambitions and ideas into reality. Humberside Police are proud to help them gain confidence, self esteem and a sense of achievement.
Mark Chesworth, Managing Director at Vivergo Fuels said: “We are absolutely delighted to support the Rock Challenge Youth Division event for the third year, allowing this hugely worthwhile event to take place in our region.”
“Last year’s event was so inspirational and it was great to see the young people involved put so much energy, passion and enthusiasm into their performances. I know that for many, it had been their first performance and you could literally see their confidence developing and feel the immense sense of achievement at the end.”
“We’re so pleased that more youth groups are getting involved this year and we really look forward to seeing the showcase performance in June.”
Rock Challenge continues to empower young people to discover new skills through performing arts, giving them an amazing platform in which to shine at some of our regions most prestigious venues. Young people continue to rise to the challenge alongside their peers, whilst at the same time enabling Humberside Police to proactively educate young people about harm, vulnerability and risk posed by alcohol, tobacco and substance misuse which is addressed through the competition. Each school has been busy since last September deciding upon a theme which tackles issues relevant to the young people such as racism, grief, equality and diversity, all to be performed on stage in eight minutes. Teams have been working hard on choreography, stage set, costumes soundtrack and much more to put on the ultimate showcase of youth talent.
During the day of the Youth Division event, we have again teamed up with the Humberside Police Dog Section, and the team at Humberside Fire and Rescue Service who will be bringing down their ICar. Also NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group will be running a market place involving a whole host of partners covering various health related issues from dental hygiene, healthy eating, health and fitness, sexual health and much more. Teams will be challenged to complete a quiz and prizes will be awarded to the top three youth groups following the afternoon production meeting.
